Death Away From Home
A death away from home is unexpected, and it adds an extra layer of complexity to an already difficult time. If your loved one passed away outside our service area, Comal, Bexar, Blanco, Hays, Kendall, Guadalupe, or Gillespie County, we can still help. Call us at (830) 282-1711, and we'll walk you through how to bring them home.
Death inside the United States
If the death occurred elsewhere in the United States, we can coordinate with a funeral home at the location of death to prepare your loved one for transport. Once they arrive back in our care, we'll handle the cremation and return their ashes to you, along with the certified death certificate, just as we would for any family in our service area.
Death outside the United States
If a death occurs outside the United States, your loved one can still be returned home. Preparation and shipment follow the laws and customs of the country where the death occurred, embalming is less common internationally, but other preparation methods are available. Families can also choose to have their loved one cremated in that country, with the ashes returned to the United States by mail or air.
